Girl In The Stars, the latest single from bigsister, is out now.
bigsister has been delivering dreamy, atmospheric and gorgeous tracks since the Summer of 2023. Girl In The Stars is the fourth and most recent single to arrive from her expanding catalogue.
Amira Eldine’s been making tracks for a while, recording vocals for various dance-orientated tunes. It was brother Elshay, also an artist, who encouraged her to take the leap and release solo music.
Working with producer/songwriter Fergus Martin, bigsister was born. Coordinated by both siblings. It’s a familiar but heartwarming story, like Billie Eilish and FINNEAS. This project is more vulnerable than anything she’s done before, using years of stored-away lyrics.
After touching on mental health (impending doom) and finding love in chaos (God makes mistakes), Girl In The Stars reaches towards space. The space that arrives after a broken heart. ‘I wish I never built this rocket’ referencing the relationship in question.
It’s a simple track, which summarises the longing and emotions which come during that space. There's beauty in simplicity and with the space narrative, it gives the story room to breathe. Amira's vocals are stunning and the bedroom-DIY feel adds a unique rawness.
In 2 minutes, bigsister captures the vulnerable sense of watching somebody move forward while remaining alone. We can see a sparkle in this track. And we’re not trying to be clever, or metaphorical. It’s a glimpse into a future where bigsister takes centre stage. Reaching for the stars isn't such a bad thing on this occasion. Because that's where she's heading.
For fans of Billie Eilish, Holly Humberstone, Clairo or Beabadoobee you need to jump on this journey while it’s still early. As we shoot through 2024, there'll be more on the horizon for this artist. And we can't wait to see what's next.
Now, it’s your turn. Give it a spin, and tell us what you think on Insta or X.
