Weekly Roundup #39
Welcome to Roundup, showcasing the freshest tunes at the moment.
Another week, another roundup.
Get It - Cardinals
Hailing from Cork, Cardinals are on an impressive rise. Tracksuited, denim and leather-clad and hidden behind wrap-around sunglasses, the band is following in their rock heroes' footsteps. Inspired by Bowie and The Strokes, Get It is surrounded by monochromatic sounds creating a gritty and nostalgic rock sound while retaining traditional nods to the rolling hills of Ireland.
Woke Frasier - THANK
“Mischievous agit-rock philosophers.” says Steve Lamacq of BBC Radio 6 Music. He isn’t far from hitting the nail on the head either. THANK is an exciting new punk band, hailing from Leeds. Ahead of their debut album, which drops in November, they’ve dropped another rowdy (and possibly their best) single to date. The premise of the song centres around woke culture, which has caused controversy in recent years.
RED LOVE HEART FOREVER - montykeates
The Gen-Z trailblazer, montykeates, pays an ode to the digital age in a roaring new love song. Gaining support from Gay Times, Wonderland Magazine, Kerrang! and The Line of Best Fit, the artist is skyrocketing to the top of the alt-pop game quickly. Following this single about his smart phone, he has a debut EP out at the end of November (28th).
Breather - Jamie XX
We can’t go a week without mentioning an album that’s captivated all of us recently: Jamie XX’s sophomore In Waves. Highly anticipated and long overdue, it’s a mesmerising and intoxicating experience. If you haven’t heard this one yet, it’s time to lose yourself. One of our favourites is Breather, which sounds like a reassuring meditation or affirmation in the form of chilled-out dance music.
