Hometown is the first studio recorded and mastered single from London-based indie provocateurs Emergency Break.

When frontman Leo Gerchen moved to New York for a year, he began pondering all the people he’d left behind. These mixed emotions led him to pen the track, longing for his hometown in his most reflective state yet.

Gerchen explained: "I wanted to write a reflective track that also screamed in your headphones like previous Emergency Break songs with no apologies whatsoever.”

The single was recorded at Roundhouse Recording Studios in Camden and features abstract artwork from Ian Rogers. The art depicts a bleeding character with two others grappling their corpse and is up for interpretation against the lyrics.

After hearing the track ahead of launch, there’s no doubt it takes the band’s offering to a new level - appealing to a palette of indie lovers everywhere. Drawing on inspiration from Oasis and The Stone Roses, Hometown features an addictive riff that begs to be remembered long after the record ends.

The track sounds dramatically more polished and clean-cut than the previous single CAN YOU FEEL IT, which was very grunge and at times felt restrained by production. While EVERYTHING YOU MAKE I BREAK was an attempt at a real introduction to the band, it seems Hometown is the real contender.

In support of the single, the band plays The Grace in London on January 10th 2025.

Hometown releases on 8th November 2024.
