Weekly Roundup #14
Welcome to Roundup, showcasing the freshest tunes at the moment.
Another week, another roundup. Solid tunes all round, with a particular highlight to English Teacher’s exceptional new record.
The Best Tears Of Your Life - English Teacher
Like many, we’ve been patiently waiting for English Teacher’s debut record since hearing Nearly Daffodils and The World’s Biggest Paving Slab. It’s now out, and one of our highlights is this track. A beautiful set-piece which builds part of the world you fall into when embracing this album. It also perhaps sheds a light on where the band feel they’re at, at this pivotal moment in their career.
Lady Messiah - Corella
If you managed to get tickets to Corella’s sold-out tour at the end of last year, you may have heard Lady Messiah being road-tested. Or in Nottingham’s case, you may have sang it back (very loudly) filling in for the band as they battled audio troubles.
Lady Messiah is undeniably a Summer anthem, evoking feelings of warmth and sunshine, and the latest from their upcoming debut album.
Prep-School Gangsters - Vampire Weekend
Vampire Weekend made quite a resurgence in 2019 with Father Of The Bride. You may know them from the self-titled debut, fuelled by the anthem-ready A-Punk.
Over a decade later, their sound is more considered, precious and thought-provoking than ever before. And there’s no better example than on this track, from their latest effort.
